CCAP(Child Care Assistance Program)-

  • Are you responsible for paying child care costs for a child under 13, or a disabled child under 18, who lives with you?
  • Do you, your spouse, and any other parents of children who live in your home, work or attend an educational or training program? If not participating in one or a combination of these activities, do these persons receive disability income?
  • Is your household’s monthly gross earned income (before any deductions from paycheck) and unearned income less than the amount listed below for your household size?

If you answered YES to all of the above questions, you may be eligible for child care assistance.

If you do not want to submit your application online, you may print out the paper application,  and mail application to Department of Education, CCAP Household Eligibility, P.O. Box 260037, Baton Rouge, LA 70826 or you can call 1.877.453.2721 for assistance.

 

EARLY HEAD START-

  • Are you pregnant or do you have an infant to 3-year-old (36 months) child?
  • Is your family’s income at or below the federal poverty level?

If you answered YES to all of the above questions, you may be eligible for Early Head Start. Eligibility is determined by local program staff. Your family may be eligible for Early Head Start services if your family’s income is determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Programs may enroll some children from families whose incomes are higher than the federal poverty level if they meet other eligibility requirements. Families with circumstances such as homelessness, children in foster care, or receiving TANF or SSI may also qualify for services. Because many programs offer services to families that may qualify them under other local criteria, we strongly recommend you contact the program in your community for more information and guidance. EARLYSTEPS-

  • Does your infant or toddler aged birth to three years (36 months) have a medical condition likely to results in a developmental delay, or have a developmental delay?

If you answered YES to the above question, you may be eligible for EarlySteps. EarlySteps services are designed to improve the family’s capacity to enhance their child’s development. These services are provided in the child’s natural environment, such as the child’s home, child care or any other community setting. Anyone can make an EarlySteps referral, even the family. Once the referral is received, the family will be contacted to begin the eligibility determination process.

  • Is your family’s income at or below the federal poverty level?

If you answered YES to all of the above questions, you may be eligible for the NSECD Program. The Nonpublic Schools Early Childhood Development Program provides low-income families the opportunity to attend state-approved private preschools and child care centers. Families with circumstances such as homelessness, using English as a second language, or having a child with a documented disability may also qualify for services.

The Preschool Expansion Grant Program

The Preschool Expansion Grant preschool program was established in 2015 to serve students who are at-risk of not being prepared for Kindergarten.  Families must meet the family eligibility requirements. Three preschool expansion grant classrooms are currently in the Monroe City School District. These classrooms are housed at childcare facilities. These schools are marked with **.
